Famous for the Romanesque church
Sant'Appiano is considered the first evangelist of the Valdelsa and he give the name to the church dedicated to him.
The parish church in 990 became part of the possessions of the Bishop of Florence, but its origin is much older, as can be deduced from the Proto-Romanesque characters of the interior.
The complex structure of the church of Sant'Appiano is the best evidence of the remarkable importance assumed by the church. In the rooms attached to the church, a small Antiquarium was created in 1991, which acts as an archaeological museum. In front of the church was the Baptistery. Only the four pillars of support remain of it.
