Barberino Val d'Elsa
Medieval village with extraordinary panoramic views
Its history is linked to the destruction of Semifonte by the Florentines in 1202. Its development was linked above all to the fact of being on the Strada Romana that connected Florence with Rome. Its urban form is elliptical and the two gateways to the village are preserved: Porta Romana and Porta Fiorentina. The Praetorian palace preserves numerous 15th century crests.
Also noteworthy is the Barberini palace and the Spedale dei Pellegrini.
